The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, LCMS, has a rich history in confessional doctrine and practice. The LCMS holds to the Bible as the inspired, without error, Word of God and the Book of Concord as the true exposition of Holy Scripture.
We believe we are saved by God's grace alon, received through faith alone, in Christ alone. Christ has fulfilled all of Gods demands perfectly, and He gives us His righteousness as a free gift. There is nothing we can do to earn God's favor, we simply believe it to be true (faith) (Ephesians 2:8-9
We believe the Bible is the inspired ("God-breathed") and inerrant (without mistakes) Word of God. It is powerful and used by the Holy Spirit to create faith in our hears. It is the only source of our teachings (2 Timothy 3:15)
We believe that Baptism is God's work on behalf of the sinner being brought to faith in Christ, not man's work to curry God's favor. Accordingly then, we confess one Baptism, administered according to Christ's command.
The Lord's Supper is also a Sacrament which forgives our sins and strengthens our faith. It is the true body and blood of Christ, given in, with, and under the bread and wine. Holy Communion also signifies a "common union" of beliefs that we share as a church family (1 Corinthians 10:16)
We are a "liturgical" church. That means that the basic pattern of our worship is drawn from the services that have been used by Christians for many centuries all across the world. The components of the Liturgy come from the Bible and serve to focus our worship on God's Word and our response to His Word in faith.
